ClothOff was a 2024–2025 AI tool that used deep learning to digitally remove clothing from ordinary photos, producing realistic nude deepfakes in seconds.
It spread rapidly through shocking viral videos, offering a few free tries before charging for higher quality and unlimited use. What started as a novelty quickly turned into a widespread instrument for non-consensual pornography, cyberbullying, and harassment, particularly targeting women and teenage girls.
Widespread outrage, victim reports, legal actions, and several tragic incidents linked to its output forced the original service to shut down by mid-2025. Identical clones immediately took its place.
The name “ClothOff” has since become synonymous with the entire class of abusive “undress” apps, serving as a grim reminder of how easily powerful generative AI can be weaponized when ethics and safeguards are ignored.
